I've just picked up an EX-CELL-O 602 turret mill with a 575v 3ph 2hp motor. I want to use this in my home workshop that has 240v single ph. I've already found alot of usefull info from this forum, but I just need a few more details. I know I can use a VFD to get the 3ph I need. I have access to a couple of Allen Bradley Power Flex 70's. One is a 3hp 240v input the other is 2hp 600v input. My biggest question is, can I put anything between the VFD and the motor like a transformer and switching? I can also get a 480v to 240v transformer. Could I use the VFD to compensate for the lower 480v? |

| I would think your cheapest way to do this is to swap out the 575 volt motor, to a 220 volt 3 phase. then use a cheap single phase input VFD to 3 phase output to drive it. 2 or 3 H.P. 3 phase motors aren't that expensive, especially used ones. |

| You may be better off looking for a 220v 3 phase motor, they are quite plentiful and the 220 versions usually run cheap. You may be able to recoup some on the sale of the 575v. Some 602's were fitted with a pancake style motor, but you should be able to rig and adaptor plate up. You cannot transform the output of the VFD. Al.
