And also what would be the largest i could possiblly go on a gantry style router with the nema 23's, i was shooting for a full 4x8 sheet and mostly up to 1/4" thick MDF.
Hello all, just checking in. So today i bought a HobbyCNC 3 Axis w/ (3) 305oz-in 4.2V 3A Steppers, and the 3 axis board. Its The 3 Axis Pro Kit. Anyways was just wonderin if they are good kits? As far as i can tell they seem to have a decent setup going.

I would try to build you gantry with less than 34's
gecko drives are the best
the gecko 540 is great for the nema 23's
as far as canned packages go candcnc uses gecko drives and is cheap and dirty and reliable once your up and running.
I've built a Joe's Hybrid, many of the users there use the Hobby CNC setup and have a 48"+ cutting capacity on the gantry.
Not sure about going larger but with the proper gearing it would be possible in my opinion. (using the hobby setup)
In the ends it all depends on what you plan on doing with your machine.
