Hi. Just though I'd introduce myself. My name is Ted Sookochoff and i live near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I just bought a Techno 4x4 table router that was being used in a cabinet shop. It has an old Mac100 control box and runs dos based bobcad/mastercam software. Right now it isn't working as the com port board in the computer is blown. This is on an old 486 computer. I have an old 486 that was working when I upgraded so my brother and I are going to swap boards this weekend and see if we can get it working. Wish us luck! Then the plan is to mount the machine on a trailer (I live in an apartment) so I can take it were I want, for use. We will see how that goes. We are both new at this cnc thing so I am sure I'll have a ton of questions, will try to take some pics and perhaps some video to post as soon as I figure that out. If you are going to be a bear --- be a grizzly!! (nic name is TBear) |

ronateah: here is an update WE found on the original computer that the comm port was a part of the motherboard so we couldn't just change a card , so we pulled out an AMD chipped computer and put the hard drive in it. We got the software booted up but now have a problem with a memory allottment/address thingy after upgrading to win98, we may have to go back to win95. Seems that it doesn't have enough memory to load the programs. My brother is working on it as he is the computer geek in the familly(I mean that in the nicesst way). So no, it is not yet working. I was hoping to try it this weekend but that won't be happening. Soon??? I post most of my stuff on the Techno forum now so any one can go there to see what we have or will do. Took some pics and will post them there in a few minutes. thanks for the inquirery.Ted If you are going to be a Bear...be a Grizzly. |
