I am an old senior and am not up on all of the high teck. stuff, however I am a wood turner and am doing some fluting on turned items. Presently I use a small router that sits on a table that fits onto my wood lathe. I slide the router on the table while cutting flutes in the items. I think that I am looking for a double axis table ?? that would move about 12 " sideways and 4 - 6" in and out. Something that I could fasten my router to and slide by hand. Clear as mud??? I would sincerely appreciate any suggestions as to where I could purchase (in Canada) something like I hade described. Thanks, Norm Smith Nova Scotia |

| Is this straight flute cutting on the parts in the lathe? Would a live tooling holder of some kind do the trick? IOW lock the spindle and have the live tooling on a modified steady rest? I assume you want some kind of manual set up? Al.

| I would imagine you need to mock something up like a sliding carriage & cross slide similar to a metal lathe set up. I am not sure if there is anything off the shelf though. It would probably have been best to post in the Woodworking forum to get more exposure to the question. Al.
