Hello, I have just purchased a Craftex B2227L Metal lathe... I'm brand new to this... and I have lots of questions... but I'll start with Oil & Lube.... can someone tell me where/how does the oil go in... and how do I lube the points around the lathe?... this model has small round plugs with a ball bearing that depresses... does the oil go in here... and how do I get it in? any help is much appreciated. | I don't have this model of lathe but I had a similar model. There should be some oil in the headstock (gear box) and the manual should indicate how much you need and where the fill/drain hole is. I used a 30W non-detergent motor oil for the headstock and the oil holes. To get the oil in the points, I used an oiler kind of like this: Oiler | Canadian Tire Just press the end up against the ball bearing and give it a few shots. I would oil the points on my lathe every time I went to use it (or shiftly as my manual indicated...) I would recommend getting Buy Tool Post Quick Change For 12 Inch Lathe B2132 From Busy Bee Tools or equivalent to replace the stock tool post. The quick change post is worth it! |
