    syil x6 . still testing

i ordered from syil in calgary , syil x6 on febuary 7th .. after many... many delays i finally got it july 8th. the month where im super busy doing every thing other then machining.

so after testing this for a few hours it seems to be a great lil machine . the new vfd motors are quiet an run pretty dead on . the new motors are what took so long for it to get to me.. or so i was told .
a few things ive noticed make me question how its built , but time will tell ....
i hope to post some good findings on it an do many hours of cutting soon .
also may put up a video an pics for any one interested in the new machines

    it is running well , coolant A+ , motors A+ , with a lil fixing... quietness B+,
over all a good machine so far . table is nice an big moves well , oils smooth .very lil to complain about , but a few things to look for ...
any one buying one of these take a good look at it before you run it .
ive found many lil problems , fixable .... but shouldnt have had to be fixed .
im sure i will have it running well soon , as it does seem to be a good size an runs better every time i adjust stuff .
    problems <<<<<<<<<<<
few simple problems with wire disconect , an conduit loose .
under the spindle / motor shroud i found a plate of steel about 3''x 7'' x3/8'' covering the belt that was missing 2 bolts from the factory . an the other 2 were very loose . the machine had been making a bad noise , shaking the steel plate .
also the top plate that the spindle cap skrews down to has 4 bolts that are to short an one was striped , and another not tight .
the casing around the motor /spindle was very pron to vibration. i added a bunch of small rubber supports an dampeners , keeps it much quieter an better to work on .
tomorow i have to straighten the head up . its not bad but it tilts to the side an angles about 0.008'' over 2'' to the left enough to make small steps in a cut . it is dead on in/out .
sometimes looses steps for some reason or messes up what it's supposed to do . but so far only when im using the ''wizards '' think they still have some bugs . gets a flat spot on circles or steps left when making holes with each layer you cut . it doesnt do this much , so not a big deal .

I like your airgun designs. Very creative. I would like to do a multistage pneumatic design, once I have get my mill converted to cnc.

It looks like you have quite a machine shop and the skills to use it. The threading cutter is interesting. Do you have any details on how you made it?

the thread cutter i made was just done on a lathe ( tool steel) , cutting V grooves straight around it at .0555 increments for 18 tpi , then fluting it with a cutoff saw , then grinding with a bench brinder to remove the stuff between the flutes an cutting edge an give the relief ,an a dremel tool with a diamond wheel i skimmed the edges back on the V shape . as crude as it sounds it works great .
. very easy to make a 1 tooth V cutter an the just step it down with each rotation . but takes 8 or 16 lines of code to do one 8thread hole ,the other multy V takes 1 or 2 lines . g2 x.1 y0 z-.0555 ij . or

    g2 x.127 y0 z - .02775 r.29
    g2x-.127 y0 z-.0555 r.29
( think thats right for 3/8 cutter od making 5/8 18 tpi )

the easy way would be to take a tap an grind off everything but the one cutting edge on one flute . then do a relief from the tip back , i may use this for pipe threads i plan i doing

Interesting. CNC certainly opens up a world of possibilities.

still been testing the machine lots , still running well , i have found the spindle motor could be faster , 6000-10000rpm would be better for wood working which i may try an get a higher gear in place once the ''warranty'' is up . . for aluminum it seems good an steel .
more vids an stuff on my site . but figures id post this , it looks way better then the video
    happy halloween

done lots of work on the machine getting it to work well , which i can say it is working great ,
ive redone the coolant sprayer . it was a mess .normaly big an heavy would be good but it was big, heavy and both bolts were stripped that held it (in my hand in picture). the block that the lil plastic hoses went into i replaced with a hard plastic one about half the size . not sure why they used a 2lbs block of steel to hold 2 plastic hoses ... but now its lighter and i moved the hoses so they are well in reach of the cutter but out of the way when needed .after i re tapped the holes all is good ...( syil should make it this way ... cheaper an way better )
i also remover the big yellow rattle box..... i mean motor/spindle shroud . it did nothing to help the machine , just made it rattle an vibrate and had a stripped bolt .. . i added the E stop on the top a lil more out of the way . sounds stupid to put it farther away but some how when i was changing stuff id hit it or if i was adjusting the spray hoses which were always in the way ..
so getting rid of the shroud an the stupid coolant block means less rattle , better spray and about 20-30lbs less to wear on the vertical skrew an ways.
the machine is working well an does get good results for me , but i am a bit disappointed in the quality of the bolting , an the strange shroud .
another problem which isnt bad is that i have to flip the computer control breaker on the back almost every time i plug it in. may figure out whats wrong some time
