I am not sure what category this belongs to. I am in Vancouver. I do mobile automotive repairs in the area. But one of my biggest complaints from the aftermarket special tool market is the size of the blow molded cases. I can redesign the footprint of the case less then half size for these same tools if a wooden block was machined to accommodate these tools. I would like to make my own cnc to do this. I know copiers have nice stepper motors but is that a practical way to do this? Also, what is best, a dremel grinder for cutting on the x,y,x axis, or something else? Thanks |

| There is a DIY area: DIY-CNC Router Table Machines - CNCzone.com-The Largest Machinist Community on the net! The machine size/router size will really depend on how big a thing you're making. I'd think printer steppers and a dremel would be too small. Rereading your post several times, am I understanding you're looking to build a wooden case to hold a tool? Does it need to be made from wood? |
