Fake Ebay emails

Received an email from Ebay (not sure) today saying that my item has been mailed and should arrive soon.

There's a link with item number and the yellow button RESPOND

If you click on respond or the link for item number, you are taken to the log in page of ebay but I always stay log in for 24 hours.

That made me suspicious.

The email look real, even exactly the same Ebay send you.

If I go to Ebay with my favorite, I do not end up to the log in page but directly to my Ebay page.

There's a charlesthomes ebay member but has 2 feedbacks instead of 381 and item number does not exist.

I have received a lot of fake email in the past and always stay on my guard but this time, this one looks real.

These are like the fake requests from Paypal to 'Update your Account' and those from banks with legit looking Letter heads etc.
Ebay request you pass those type you got to the ebay spoof site, they may check into it.

I don't think that would check into those; perhaps to maintain a record for statistical purposes (there's so much fraud that the cost for full investigation/security would be an astronomical overhead expense in terms of manpower. I would think they save the real investigation for those serious scams where ebay may be held liable.
