Where can I buy a Dust collector (preferrably 2HP) in Canada?

    Hey guys,

I want to get a dust collector and I would really like to get the 2HP model like the one from harbor freight. I've heard good things about this model/style.

I can find several places in Canada that have them, but they are priced at $400-$500! WTF!? Harbor freight is $189.99. I can see paying $250 in Canada, but $500?

Any ideas? I might end up getting stuck buying the princess auto 1HP

    Dust Collector

Hey Dustin have you checked out Busy Bee Tools? They have a outlet in Edmonton and 1 in Calgary ( I beleive not 100% sure about that one) They do have a web site www.busybeetools.com however don't discount the Princess Auto unit. I got on on sale, the 2 bag unit uupper and lower and then built a cyclone unit for it. Planed 220 bf of red oak and 50 bf of pine and never even came close to filling the bag.. and as a bit of a bonus not really that loud, at least not as loud as my shop vac :-) BTW just checked the Busy bee site they have a 2 hp unit on sale for $399. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the ideas.

The busy bee tools 2hp one is 220v only, and I just feel so ripped off paying $400 for it lol.

Reno depot is only out east it looks like.

I've never seen a 2 bag collector at princess auto, but would prefer on to the single bag style.

I think that maybe this busy bee one is a good compromise as it is 800CFM rather than the usual 600 for a 1hp, and has a 1 micron filter (though I'd probably replace it with a canister and use a cylclone anyway)

There is a busy bee in Edmonton (200km drive) but shipping is only $13.99 from them... hmmmmm...

Not sure if you still looking, but just wanted to say I bought this unit on the weekend. It is quiet and has lots of power. The package includes some accessories as well, to get you started.

Good to know sparky. I haven't picked one up yet, but I think I will be getting this one.

    Thanks!

    I Just found a few....

I lucked in.....In my local classfieds here in Newfoundland last night I found a guy that was advertising some Craftex Air filtration systems for sale for $150 each... I went to see them... and it was actually a commercial wood working shop that had just built a brand new building.. Well I lucked in... he was a nice guy... it was the owner... and he let me have two of them for $200!.. then he uncovers them... turns out he had five or six there... and everyone of them are brand spanking new... He looked at me , and said... " none of these were ever actually used... they were installed but the lazy..so & so's never bothered to turn them on!"...lol... not a scratch on them... I'm thinking about going back for the rest of them... here is a link to the model Model # CT051, 3amp... anyone have any experience with them?... I'm wondering if I can use one hooked up to a Cyclone type DIY unit, and use it for Point of cutting dust collection??? ideas... My shop is 12 X 21 1800 Cubic feet.

I actually ended up getting an 825 CFM 1HP unit from Busy Bee tools on their boxing day sale. It seems to work great so far.
