I know that Fastenal can get acme as that is where I got mine. They don't list it on their website, but when I inquired about some 1/2 -10 single and they actually had it in stock at one of their Edmonton locations.

Not sure where you can get rack in Alberta... I just ordered some from Moore gear in the USA

3 x 6" pieces of pre drilled rack came to $268 including shipping. The rack was .5 x .75 20 degree.

A bunch of building Joe's CNC 4X4 Hybrids bought our racks from Moore Gear http://www.mooregear.com, and their "about us" page says "Customers in the industrial, agricultural, machine tool and commercial markets throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico have come to depend upon Moore Gear"
You should call them and talk to Diane - she is a wealth of information about their rack gears.

Thanks for the posts. It looks like that is where I am going to have and get it. I have called alot of places.

Now I am just looking for a Acme 1/2-10 multi-start nut. mcmaster carr, 90473A030 part number.

Just trying to buy in Canada.

How about reasonable e-stop and limit switches In Canada if possible.

Cheers...

Sorry Howard, I can't help other than to suggest you scour the search engines (Google, Yahoo, etc.).
The only thing I know for sure about Canada is that it is north of the United States.

Bearing and Transmission, The Bolt supply house, B&E Electronics

If you want to buy local, try the good old yellow pages.

Any decent industrial supply store will have all the mechanical stuff you need.

I ship R2020X6 rack to Canada all the time. This is the .50" square mentioned. If you email me with the particulars I'll be happy to put together a quote.

Thanks for the reply's.

I have tried many local and they get stumped on the ACME 1/2, 10 with a 5 start and no one seems to even have or know about 1/2, 1/2, 20 rack.

I was just trying to save on shipping and customs. This will be the first of 4 that we will be building.

How about an enclousure for the eletronics and a e-stop that is affordable.

Cheers...

Howard

http://www.roton.com/
This is where I 'just' got my 1/2" 10 double starts from, to the door was $130 for 3 rods 36" long. I got the backlash nuts from dumpsterCNC(anouther 100 bucks for 4 nuts)
Local wanted about $250 for the rods... backlash nuts are not available.

Is where I got some of my other parts(switches/connectors ect...)
They are the wharehouse, and Quale Electronics was the distributer...

It's really tough to find stuff in Canada sometimes...

Whatever you get from the USA, try to get it shipped USPS NOT UPS
UPS you get charged those ridiculous brokerage fees, wheras USPS sometimes has no duties and other times they are just minor.

I got my e stop on ebay from hong kong for less than $10 and it seems to work just great.

dustin1706,

Do you remember the ebay supplier. I have had others try some and had no luck. Since you have had luck, I was just wondering.

Thanks for the input.

Cheers...
