    Help in the Toronto Area?

Hey everyone. This is my first post here and am looking for help with my new (used) MaxNC 5. I recently received this with an old DOS laptop however I was missing the software. I decided to hook it up to an old PC that I had using Mach3 and had absolutly no luck at all (read through the maxnc and mach3 pdf's).

I've now tried this with 2 different PC's and, after acquiring a zipped version of the original maxnc software, tried it with that as well (through windows).

I can not get any response at all from the mill. After plugging it in you can hear the fans in the enclosure turn on but I'm starting to think that the driver board has failed. I believe this is an older model (at least 5 years).

    Can anybody help me out?

Can I but another control board locally? perhaps another brand that is of better quality?

    Thanks
    Tim

I'm not familiar with maxnc products, but I assume they're not much different than anything else out there. I can probably help.

I have had good luck with the Rockcliff 4-axis boards at $165 US. They will do up to 24 volts and 2.5 amps per axis. Rockcliff CNC is in Guelph, ONT.

Here is the link to the board:
