Abbotsford BC - New Member

Hi all,

From Abbotsford BC, and looking to make or get a small (2'x4') CNC router kit to build or purchase one to start working with.. Wondering if there are any other members who would be willing to help out or point a newbie in the right direction..

I will be working with MDF 90% of the time, and Plexi and light metals the rest if possible..

Any tips pointers or suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Tony Dehnke

For that size of a router, if you're looking at the DIY route, the JoeCNC 2006 is a good choice, but it looks a bit hard to cut with just regular shop tools unless you are pretty skilled.
Joe does sell kits on his website though, that include all of the MDF and HDPE parts of the router per cut. You just buy the electronics and lead screws and assemble it.

The JGRO is the one I am starting out with as it is easy to build with just a table saw. I already realize that it has quite a bit of flex though, although some people are making some pretty cool stuff with it.

Cncrouterparts sells a good kit to get the electronics in one place.

Expect to spend $1000 to $1500 on a decent DIY setup, and expect to have a bit of trouble tracking certain parts down in Canada.
