Default Toronto - Fusion 360 Beginner Help

    Hello!

I keep trying to wrap my head around Fusion and have watched a lot of YouTube videos, but since I'm not using the app on a daily basis I find the learning curve quite steep. Wondering if there's any Fusion proficient folk that would be willing to sit with me and tutor? Preferably in the Toronto / Mississauga area.

Please leave me a PM here if interested.

    Thanks!

azurgrip, I was just wondering what way you were using Fusion 360 for? Both Cad & Cam?
The reason I am asking is because I too have been looking at using Fusion 360 for a VMC.
I was going to follow your thread to see what kind of response you receive or maybe you could report back with any updates.

    Thanks,
    Dave

I'm using it for mostly CAD to send to my machinist. But also with the hopes of using the CAM side if I ever get around to converting my G0704 (that's a whole other ball of wax...).

Well if you are in Mississauga I am about 1 hr. west of you and 20mins. south of Brantford.
My address is Scotland Ont. but I am out in the country.
I have a Milltronics VMC that I am programming by finger at the control, gets old fast. Was looking at Fusion 360 for both the CAD&CAM.
If history is any indication I have a feeling I will be in the same boat as you as far as learning new tricks.
I have manual machines, and my mentor was a retired machinist.........but he has no CNC experience what so ever.

May I ask what you're making these days? It's a nice drive that way!

I am not doing anything special, basically spending more time trying to learn how to use the machine than anything else.
That is one of the reasons why I was interested in using Fusion 360. Kinda of wanting to expand my horizons.

I can say that this part of the country is a lot more laid back than where you are, and I say that from experience, having worked in Mississauga and Etobicoke at one time.
Last week I had to go to Mississauga to pick up some parts, and I soon remembered how much I despise driving on the QEW.

I take it that you may have a business of some sort and thus your reason for doing CAD drawings?
Have you used any other software to help with your drawing?

    Hi guys,
I am no where near you but am also a newbee to Fusion 360. I struggled to get the basics but then ran across a couple of YouTube sites that have helped me immensely.
The first is Paul McWhorter who is a teacher out in New Mexico I think. Anyhow he has done an excellent series on getting Fusion 360 up and running. While most is geared towards 3D printing, but basics are the same and he is an excellent teacher.

The other one that I enjoy on YouTube is Lars Christensen who does a live stream most work days at 3PM and on Wed. evenings at about 8PM eastern time, he has a Facebook live stream that is dedicated to beginners and will stop and answer questions submitted. These broadcasts are then posted up on YouTube usually over the following weekend.

I am not sure of the Facebook url, as I don't use it, but he mentions it in his videos.

    Hope this may help you.

Thanks for the tip. I've watch Lars a bunch, and also follow him on Facebook. I've had issues with his stuff as there's certain assumptions made about knowing all the terminology which might not be as obvious to us newbies.

    I'll check out Paul!
