    Default Electrical enclosure

I am looking to make a new, larger electrical enclosure for m cnc. I am thinking sheet metal based on what I have seen used. Any material suggestions other than sheet metal or is that still the est option due to heat, duraility etc? Thanks

Aluminum is good. Enclosures are also made of fiberglass. I would not make one out of a wood product due to the fire danger. I guess you could make one out of polycarbonate (Lexan), but steel might be cheaper.

I have found deals on ebay for used enclosures, some include all kinds of extras, but maybe those days are gone!
BTW, when estimated the size of the enclosure the final result is always out by a considerable undersized margin, that's a given.!

Definitely true. In my experience no matter which box size we go for, in the end it is always full and feels undersized.

So it's always a good idea to start with at least 20% oversize.
