Default Looking for a used hobby lathe.

HI guys I am Toronto based and I'm in the market for a used lathe, as I cannot afford a new one.
I've no machining experience and I am looking for something small but not too small. Not a watchmakers lathe. Looking to work on small aluminum parts for my exoskeleton. If you have something please send me a PM, Thanks for your time...GMurdoch

I found an Emco compact 5 hobby lathe online located in my city. Seller is asking $800. It appears to be in mint condition. Seller says that it was used approx 30 hours. Any thoughts people, thanks in adance. ..GMurdoch

You didn't give any specific sizes for the parts that you want to make but something larger than 5-inch swing may be useful. Personally I use a Myford S7 which is a 7-inch swing with a gap bed that allows work as large as 9-inches in diameter. It is sometimes too small!

Do you have a mill? Depending on exactly what you want to make it is possible to use a mill as a lathe. Just a thought.

I am intrigued by your aluminum exoskeleton project. Would you care to provide a few details?

I don't have a mill or a lathe yet. As far as my build I am not sure if I am permitted to post a link to another thread from another forum describing in detail what it is I want to do...GMurdoch
