    Default Source of HDF

    Hi Gang,

I am from the Edmonton area and was wondering if anyone knows a source of High Density Fibre board. I am going to make a grid based vacuum table for my CNC and am under the impression that MDF is too porous for this purpose.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dan

Hi Dan, don't know if you've found an answer but I have some info for you.

I have a 5 x 10 router table with a vacuum top in the same grid formation. It works great. Although I have it zoned, I can still hold small/medium/large work pieces in place on top of a full 4 x 8 spoilboard without clamping. The vacuum sucks right through my spoilboard. My base is made from UCFP's Medite MDF at 1.5" thick. I had to ensure my vacuum piping was sealed well and the grid patterns were well sealed with a spray sealant (used laquer clearcoat over primer)

Spoilboard is 1/4" thick standard mdf.

I think that UCFP may offer HDF sheets as well if you really are intent on going that direction.

Also, I use a 1/2hp regen vac made by GAST. It is 32 to 39 Hg
