Depends on the make/type of drives,
In the general sense, servo's are the better choice.

Good day All
New here.
First post- I have started collecting parts to build myself a CNC router and to see how far I can get with out having to punchers anything,
So far I have built a 2'x4' stand 3' high from some old shelf unit and a desktop. I have 4- ball screws 4' long with nuts and taper bearings.
1"dia x40" long hard steel shaft but on linear bearings yet, some 3/4" linear bearings and shaft, Some 80-20 extrusion and some other type of box extrusion not quite the same size, My problem is I have access to a number of new scrap servo drives and servo motors but no control equipment
Do I use the servo equipment or try and trade it for stepper motors and drives which seem easier to use.
Any help advise or comments most welcome.
Thanks Ian.

The Drives I have are Delta ASD-A0421-AB 240v 400w and TECO Electro TSDA 20B-CC401G27F
240v 400w I also have a number of matching motors some with 10-1 gearboxes.
If any one is interested in purchasing any of these items please contact myself ianschofield@Hotmail.com
In theory servos are the better choice if you can afford them. I have a stepper cnc mill (Novakon torus pro). The steppers are reliable and fast enough for my needs. If you are on any sort of a budget just get the steppers. You can always upgrade later if you feel a need to.
