I use 3 d milling a little and it works pretty good for me. It took a while to get used to using the avoid and contain that you need to use , but once in that mind set its a snap.
Anyone using the 3 axis version? How do you like it?
How are the tool paths?
Thanks,
Bob

We have Mill 3x level II and I like it a lot. Most of what we do is 3d on small medical parts. I found that just trying different 3d patterns helped a great deal. Play with the settings too. For example, it took a while before I found that the z level pattern could be used in a finish mode by changing the settings it defaults too. Make your own patterns to default to. Going from 2-1/2 to 3d was interesting. Much longer programs and cycle times.
I like the tool path options much better than MasterCam V9 (I know nothing of V10).
Are you looking to upgrade CamWorks or switch over to CamWorks?
I would be upgrading. I have 2-1/2 axis, which I love. 3 axis is a little pricey though. I actually bought a seat of Bobcad to play around with, but with all the problems they're having with that software I'm afraid to send any of their code to my machines. I'm getting more requests for parts that need some 3D work, so I'll have to come up with something eventually...
