    3D stepover machining

HI ,sometimes when i mill some electrodes 3D stepover seems like the bes way to finish the piece but i cant get it to start miling from top down (imagine the part is basically conical ) but instead it goes from bottom up wich makes it dive into more material in the start. This makes me take more steps with smaller and smaller bits to come to a point where the last mill bit (2mm diameter) can work safely in good feed speed.
Delcam power mil had the option to select wheather you want to go inside out or outside in but i just cant seem to get it in camworks2009.
I would appreciate if anyone can share a pearl of wisdom on the subject.

    Thanx

have you tried using z-level instead of pattern project?

even in pattern project, you can reverse the stepover, that might work for you also.

thanx for the reply ,i kind of messed with it and made it work for me.not quite as i'd like to but it works.

when i reverse i does start from the other side but has some moves i did not like.

Z level works sometimes but its not a full 3D that i need for some parts.

I use "Fine-constant step over" a lot for parts that I need a good finish. You can set both XY and Z step overs.

i run a CamWorks 2009 and i cant find constant stepover , only 2D and 3D stepover wich is something like that.
But as i explained the constant stepover used to give much better results in Delcam powermill.

    hi
under the pass options is a Reverse Order, tick or untick this and it will change the start order around for you.
