Okay, I have Plus on a dell with nothing else in the computer except the Gallil card.. It's running a mill with servos all tuned up and all (finally). The problem is that I'll push the GO button and walk off to do other work, come back and - it's just sitting there in the middle of a long loop with the motor running, no motion and no error popup. Does not care which axis is in motion. Stops sometimes in the middle of a feed move. No crash (thankfully) but on a long program with several tools it's a pain in the butt to have to start over again. Anybody? Anybody?? Thanks

| This is where the engineer earns his pay. I spent 15 years solving issues like this every day on all sorts of equipment. The method is always the same, start narrowing the problem down to exactly what is happening and when. I can tell you its always something simple and stupid - KISS. Actually not always, I did find a really complex problem and proved it - ONCE. That's out of millions of issues. The logfile feature will tell you exactly where you were when the program hung. learn to read this file. I have hundreds of spots in my code that says: IF \140=1 THEN MESSAGE Got to this spot in my code I then have a user button on the screen that changes \140 from 0 to 1 when I need to diagnose an issue. Makes it far easier to trace what happened just before your machine misbehaved. Also, just plain watching it run will narrow the problem down. Good luck Karl Last edited by Karl_T; 11-06-2009 at 04:28 PM. |

| Thanks again Karl, I did a restart of the computer and the problem went away. (4 parts anyway) I recall the honcho at Camsoft telling me that the benefit of his system over that of the cheaper competition is that the OS and computer itself does not interfere with the Galil operation. Thus Safety! Well, this latest symptom scares me a bit. I tried to edit a code program while that program was running once and couldn't (program being used by another application). This surprised me - I may have gotten it wrong but I recall hearing that Camsoft sends the program to Galil and thus the safety thing, Windows does not get in the way. Life is a struggle sometimes.
