This is regarding a 6 axis tool and cutter grinder which we are using Camsoft on, BTW it's got stepper motors, yeah yeah I know it needs servos. (Hopefully next year) Every so often the axis just stops, I'm assuming it's most likely got a position error, so I increased the tolerance from 0.05mm to 0.08mm and it still does it. I'v tried changing the tolerance, rapid, Accel, Decel. Well I'm just about out of ideas. The strange part is it's been working for about 2 weeks flawlessly now all of a sudden it's working like a piece of @#$%. Hope Santa brings me some servo motors. Is it possible for the newer technology (PC, motion card, Camsoft) to be too much for older stepper motors and gradually make them worse? The machine is about 1985 I think. Here's a link to a video of it in motion. 6 Axis Tool and Cutter with Camsoft |

| Do you know what Galil card it is running? One thing I use for trouble shooting is the (free) Galil DMCTerm program which is a program that allows you to enter commands directly to the card for trouble shooting etc. You can enter the two letter Galil commands as listed in the Card manual and test the amps and motors. You have to be carefull with this as the overtravels etc are not in play. Does the motor(s) just quit with no sound from them, or does it sound like they are trying to turn? Al

| If you've changed anything in the logic lately, that's where I'd be looking very closely, first. ![]() Does it behave the same in single step mode, versus continuous? Got all the decelstop commands in place?

| Hi Darc, When you get a chance send us a LogFile.fil File (History file). (1) Enter Diagnostics (2) Run your part (3) As soon as it's stops, save the LogFile.Fil and send it to us. In the mean time see QUESTION 126 Sometimes motion just stops, what's going on? Also see Question 134 as well. Tech Support CamSoft Corp. (951) 674-8100 support@camsoftcorp.com www.cnccontrols.com
