Error codes from diagnostic screen

Following is the logfile after I try test move. Please note the last few entries - that's where it stops. I don't see in the manuals that some input on ICM 2900 is causing this. I have .200" per rev on the X & Y and .100" on the Z with 4096 encoders on each axis. I get that "DECEL too slow for Ratios" a lot...

Thanks if you can!

What is your accel and decel set at? IIRC I've used values in the range of 15,000 to 25,000.

Your servo motors are off. can't tell why from this info. Try issuing
COMMAND SH in the command window. Note: I use this command on any Estop reset on my equipment.

karl

Edit: i see your accel and decel are OK on second look. What do you have enter on the RATIO page?

The RATIOs are 20480 for the X and Y (.200 per rev.) and 40960 on the Z (.100" per rev.)

Thanks for your help!

I just pulled up my CHNC .cbk. I have accel/decel at 50,000 and about 1/2 the gear at 10,000. Try doubling your accel/decel. This is just a minor thing you can tune later.

I'll mention again that I find servo tuning and setup to be easier without Camsoft host. Just one more layer in the way. getting both Camsoft and Galil WSDK installed and running on the same computer can be a real PITA though. And you will have to learn a few native galil commands.

HEY KARL !!!

1) Have you ever had problems with the computer's power supply not being sufficient for the ICM 2900 breakout board?

I'm getting some really strange things happening. eg. when I try to run a motion test from the diagnostics screen the software disables the drive then tells me it can't move because the drive is shut off.

I went to MDI (after pulling half the hair out of my head) for laughs (%$#&^@* yeah, right!) and typed in GOO10. IT WORKED ! ! !

Camsoft got my cbk and the logfile and they're scratching their heads. Me, I've got people breathing down my neck.....with backorders!

Thanks,
Nelson

You shouldn't power the 2900 from the computer. There's a jumper to remove on your galil card so you can use a separate power supply.

I spent 15 long years as an engineer upgrading manufacturing equipment. Most of the time management breathing down my neck asking why it wasn't done yet. The rest of the time they were telling me it cost too much.

I do Camsoft just for fun now. But, if i don't get something; I take the day off.

Glad to see you made it move. FWIW, I had the same sorts of weird stuff trying to set up and tune under Camsoft.

More follow up. Pull JP3 and JP13 on Galil board to not power limits and inputs from PC. By convention (habit) I do all inputs and limits with 24 volt DC. I also don't use the +5V terminals on the 1900/2900. I take +5 volt from a separate supply for the encoders. Make sure the +5V common is bonded to the same point. Being an anal engineer type, I have everything fused.
