    DMC 1832 diagnostic fail

My system: yaskawa AC servo with amplifier, DMC 1832, Camsoft CNC Lite
I intend to test operation of Camsoft and Galil card first before building real system. I used Turning test of Diagnostic function of Camsoft to drive the motor, but it didn't work.
The software could detect encoder and show the position on screen. It also showed the voltage to MOCMDX but there was nothing when I measured.
I also used Jog to drive motor but i've got nothing.
Could anybody tell me what went wrong.
Any response will be helpful for me.
    Thank you in advance

This is just my background. I prefer to test equipment, get it working, then add in the Camsoft host. There is a Galil servo tuning software package that wil lead you through. My version is called WSDK. I think they have a new one out with a new name. Go to Galilmc.com

There's a large list of possible things wrong. If none of the servos work, equipment failure is doubtful, I'd look to a wiring mistake first. I've not done AC servos; depending on the type you have there may be more connection than just encoder, MOCMD, and servo GRD. A couple of simple things that have caught me in the past - make sure your limit switch polartiy is set correctly, make sure the servos are enabled (Galil command SH)

    Have fun

P.S. I just went to the Galil site. Here's the new product for servo tuning

Thank a lot Karl for your quick response.

About Yaskawa servo and amplifier wiring I strictly follow the manual, and test it in velocity mode, which allow +/-10DCV. It did run.
For wiring from ICM to amplifier, I followed instruction of Galil about connection between Galil card and Yaskawa amplifier. http://www.galilmc.com/support/appno...s/note5437.pdf
Please note that I ignored all limit switch and just tested for only one servo.

My interest is that the Camsoft and DMC card generate a voltage on pin MOCMD, then servo will run. That sounds simple task but it doesn't!

In Diagnostic mode of Camsoft I test pin AMPEN, it works. Moreover I take a look to AC servo led it was already in RUN mode. All of these things demonstrate that servo is enable.

One more thing Karl advised me to use Test software from Galil, but I have to confess that I was also fail when using DMC Smart Terminal. The same problem occurred: No voltage in MOCMC pin. (I used ICM-2900-OPTO interconnection)

I found that my situation is somewhat same with Karl's, as follows:
    change analog output voltage
Anyone could help me how to test hardware problems.
I need help from all experienced Galil and Camsoft users. Any suggest is helpful for me.
    Thank Karl.

I prefer to test everything using the Galil Terminal, but a couple of things will cause no analogue output, make sure the speed is not set to 0. interrogate with the SP?,?,? command,
    Assuming X axis issue a:
    SH
PA 500000 (or any encoder value)
    BGX (if using X servo)
If no output, use TC to indicate if any problem.

    Unhappy

    Thank for your help AL!
As I mentioned before I did use DMC Smart Terminal to test. Follow their manual and your guide many times but problem have not solved.

In Data Record of Smart Terminal encoder performance is good. Check for output displayed by software as you told me the voltage vary from 9.998V to 2V and then 0V. But when I measured there was nothing on pin MOCMD.

    I need any suggestion.
    Thank you

It sounds like a hardware or connection problem, have you tried other axis? MOCMDX,Y,Z and reading the voltage with respect to the associated common/ground terminal?

One other thing to check, make sure you have MT 1,1,1,1 If Galil thinks you got steppers, it won't send voltage out; it will send steps out different pins.
