Hi Here’s my problem I have a used dmc-1760 card when I was tuning the servo’s, in the motor command Z axis it was not sending voltage out to the drive, sent card to Galil to be fixed they said it had special firmware in it, that’s why it wasn’t working on Z axis, they installed the standard firmware in it and sent it back. Installed the card back into the computer and opened Camsoft PRO. I check the Z axis to see if it sent out voltage and it did. Then I opened WSDK software and went to the setup page that’s were all the errors started to popup and the program was locking up, manly communication errors, then if you would close the software and reopen it you would lose communication with the controller but if you rebooted the computer then it would recognize the controller again but you still had all the errors. So I checked the device manager no errors their change something’s didn’t help. So I removed the WSDK software and the Camsoft software plus all the driver files, I followed the post on Galil / Camsoft driver conflict to remove and reinstall the Camsoft software. Checked device manager and everything look good there. Ran the software it asked for card type entered #2 then an error would popup saying “Unable to connect to controller card” Uninstalled and reinstalled software 3or 4 times, same thing, Tried everything in the manual about forcing it to recognize the card, switched ISA slots played with different sittings in the CMOS BIOS. Anybody have any Ideas. Thanks |

| I know this. This is a old card. The ISA card has dip switchs that should be set to the address the drivers want for that version. once it was 1000 then I see it was 816 later. You also should not mix different versions of drivers from Galil and Camsoft. Get the current version from Camsoft and the latest Galil drivers will be automatically installed too so they match. The communication problem will go away using Galil WSDK and Casmoft if you can find the address for this version set the dip switches. Carlo |

| What version of Windows? Win 9x can have a difficult time sometimes because it 'never forgets' a piece of hardware. Reformatting and installing the operating system will take care of that one. But, there is probably an equal chance that the card is still no good. Send it back if you cannot get it working.

| Hi Windows XP, Camsoft Pro Version 16.1 and WSDK Is about two months old. I talked to Camsoft to verify that the two versions are compatible before I installed the WSDK. I have the address set on 1000 on the card which is Hex 3E8 address in Device manager |

| I had exactly the same problem using Win98 with an ISA 1700, I tried a new install, that didn't work, after trying all the Camsoft suggestions I spent about a week solid trying, In the end Camsoft suggested I send the whole system to them. I did not have any more time due to a Project being late so I never did find out. You may want to send it to them perhaps. Al.

| Yeah who I think I got it. I double check the jumpers for the address and I looked on the bottom part of the board where the IRQ jumpers are and there were no jumpers on them so I put a jumper on IRQ11 which is the IRQ number I have set in Device Manager. Reinstalled card opened software and no communication error, wish I would have figured that out on Friday! now I’ll try to reinstall the WSDK software and see if that’s ok to. Thanks for the help CNCzone is the Greatest Last edited by 69owb; 05-06-2007 at 07:18 PM. |

| If it makes you feel any better, I've been there done that. Galil has stated that "plug and Play" does not work well on the 17xx cards. You need to jumper as you did. I found windows to be TERRIBLE at dealing with this and had to check device manager for IRQ conflicts on other devices. Check every single device for an IRQ conflict. FWIW, this whole galil card setup and getting both WSDK plus Camsoft to work together is the biggest problem you'll face. Everything is down hill from here. Karl |

| Well I thought I was home free Intel I installed WSDK, some how it uninstalls the drivers for the galil card. Reinstalled the drivers opened up WSDK went to the setup window that’s when all the timeout errors start popping up tried doing a master rest and all I get are timeout errors one after another. Is their any other jumpers I should look at? Thanks |

| Galil doesn't work and play well with others. You have to install it first, get it running; then do Camsoft. Looks to me like you have issues with the card that have nothing to do with camsoft. The jumpers of concern are the memory address and IRQ number. There is also a DMA jumper, but i don't think its used. Different revisions of the 1700 card are different on the address jumper for the same address value. As its just came back, tested, from galil; I'd really suspect trouble in this area. Galil has a EXCELLENT advisor bulliten board on their web site. I'd carefully verify your addressing and IRQ jumpering with the Galil 1700 manual, then contact them if you still have issues. Don't try camsoft till you have the card running under WSDK. Good Luck Karl Karl |
