How long does it take to install a camsoft controller on a mc1210 makino HMC with a 60 tool ATC & a pallet changer for 1 guy working on it, more then 2 weeks (100 hrs)? Last edited by motomitch1; 08-27-2006 at 03:39 PM. |

| I'm assuming you haven't installed Camsoft before. There's a bit to learn. So, the answer is yes, more than two weeks doing it yourself. How long really depends on your aptitude and previous experience. If you hire a professional to design your system. And an experienced electrician to pull all the new wiring. AND someone to make sure no components have failed. Two weeks down should be doable. The important part: When you're done, you'll have the best there is. Karl |

| I would like to see some Camsoft retrofitted mills here in Missouri and see if there is any CamSoft dealers around here. I think I could do most of it, the part i would have trouble with is the Fanuc spindle drive and the servo drive hook ups |

| What servo drives are you thinking of using, Fanuc, are they AC or DC? Al.

| You have a better chance with the DC, Do you know if they are the SCR drives or PWM? Al.

| There should be a plate attached to the servos. Give us all the info on it. Hopefully in english. See what you can read off the spindle motor as well. I'm sure the kind folks at Camsoft can point out a dealer and a machine for you to go see. Or, take a ROAD TRIP, come see my stuff in Minnesota. BTW, I drive right past your place twice a year - on my way to/from Florida. Karl |

| With it all being in Japanese including the 11m controller its very hard to work on and use, some of the controllers pages are in English but most of them are in Japanese. The tool changer hasn't worked for 5 years the boss man wants it to work so I been working on that for 2 days I'm going to suggest a camsoft retro fit after I gather some info about camsoft I like the Maintenance/Diagnostic screens that allow the user to manually control and view many factors about the machine itself including servo tuning and all digital I/O states. |

| Iam sure youll like camsoft. I like it for the same reasons you said. I have been using it for a few years. The people there helped me alot in the beginning. You should call them anyway. This sounds like a big job to me. They will ask you if you want an installer to come out. I got a discount for buying it direct. I would ask them for this to. Carlo |

| There is alot of work ahead of you, You need to check if the DC servo's have encoders, and integrating the servo drives could be a challenge, If that were my machine I would look hard at what the system 11 needs, I know it is an older control but it is a work horse , and parts are still available, if you wanted to revamp the tool changer logic that could be done with an outboard PLC fairly easily, and you would not be under the gun, time wise. Just something to think about. Al.
