| I have an old track torch with optic eye that you must have accurate drawing of what you want to cut out and it will follow the line and move the torch. I have coal conveyer sporcket to cut out for customer and all they have is a good sprocket for a sample no drawing. If the old torch was working I could lay the sprocket on a white background and cut it out. Is it possible and how difficult would it be to hook the old eye to the new torch and make it work in CamSoft PRO? This would be the best of both worlds CNC and tracer. Thank You The Farmer. |

| They both operate on completely different principles, All the customers of mine that have voiced the same request for a combined machine, gave up on the trace cutting all together once they had CNC. Al.

| Incidentally, Esab? used to offer a CNC add on to Linde trace machines, the trace cutting just intercepted and took over the servo drives only, at this time the CNC controller was out of the picture. Al.

| Al that is what I wanted to do, to copy a pattern of an actual part and then convert it to a CNC program. When I worked for Alcoa we had a Burney torch that was CNC and had a tracer eye, you could trace a part and then it was a CNC program that you could scale up or down or just keep stored for future use. | The one I am thinking of you could only select one or the other, there was no commonality between trace and CNC except sharing the servo`s. To do this with Galil, when you transfer over to the tracing , Galil would have to turn its motor`s off so there was no command output, and the drive commands would have to be digitally switched to the Trace command, similar to what they did on the Esab. The Galil would then have to simultaneously run a teach program that stored the path via its encoder inputs, Trace head does not use encoders. It would be no mean task!. Al.
