| I finally figured it out. to make cutter comp work, describe your tool in diameter on the tool set up page Tool # 1 .08 diameter or kerf width. Start your program with a G0 to a place at least 2 radius' plus a smidgen more away from the real geometry. It takes 2 moves to pick up comp, they can be arcs or lines, next line call T1 then G41 then G1 end the program with G40 G0 X-.5Y-.5 T1 G41 G1X-.2Y-.2 G1X0Y0 G1Y4 G1X4 G1Y0 G1X0 G40 M30 This program of a 4" square yielded a display of X-.040 Y4.040 X4.040 Y-.040 Change my tool to .250 and it showed offset of .125 without the second move to get to real part it went from X-.5Y-.5 to X0Y0 the next move ended at X-.04Y4.04 Hope this will help on easy accurate parts with reground endmills. The Farmer PS: If you are serious about what Cam Soft can really do for you, hop in the truck with the wife and daughter and drive to California and go to school at Cam Soft. to have the greatest experience of a lifetime, go the week of the rains, storms and record mud slides. Send the wife and daughter sight seeing and shopping, while you are learing, they could care less about how to set up a macro file. they will get caught in a mud slide, blow out 2 tires, in the national forest with the access roads in and out closed for safety reasons on the side of the mountain with no cell phone service, then you wonder why your truck is not in the parking lot when school gets out. The next day was great seeing a machine with 60+ IO that had been working flawlesly for some time that was better retrofitted than the day it was new. |

I'd love to go visit Camsoft, I'm sure I'd learn a ton. No question about it, in the hands of a talented refitter, a Camsoft machine is better than new. Karl |
