mastercam posts for camsoft

has anyone figured out which mastercam post processor works best in cnc lite???

i thought the standard basic fanuc was the post to use.

if i set the arc parameter to 2 in the setup menu and use i and j with r in the arcs, it seems to work ok but
as soon as any helical cuts are made in the z axis the controller locks up with an error.

i've got a favorite post that i use in mastercam that works in haas , a mach 3 controlled mill, heindenhain, and our fanuc without issue.
this same post also kicks errors in camsoft..

i must be missing something (i'm feeling pretty stupid)

My son is the mastercam programmer, so I'm only repeating here. He started with a Fanuc 6M post and made a few changes. In the case of arcs, I really like absolute I and J. This is an option in Mcam. The post for my lathe uses R.

I've never got an Mcam post to run without a couple minor edits. I strip off the junk at the front of the Gcode. And have to change the lines with a T in them. For example Mcam says T1 to go to tool 1. I need M6 T0101.

I'd suggest working out your arc issue with hand coded Gcodes.
Set arc to absolute I J

Try this

G00 X1 Y0
G02 X1 Y0 I0 J0

you should get a circle.

G00 X1 Y0 Z0
G02 X1 Y0 Z0.1 I0 J0

Get a helix?

Karl
