Right now I have to make .05in passes through mdf in order to get very good accuracy. The problem with this is that it takes a tremendous amount of time in order to machine the piece. If I set it to a larger pass depth like .125in (I am using an 1/8in bit) then it machines the piece faster but the accuracy suffers a little bit. So I am wondering is there a way in cambam to leave material and then cut it away in one big final pass. Example say I wanted to cut a 1in x 1in square out of .25in thick mdf. Right now I would set the machine up and cambam would have the machine make five .05in passes. Wouldn't it be faster if the machine cut a 1.01in x 1.01in square with deeper passes and then had the machine shave off that last .01in with a finishing pass? ______________ How would this be done for perimeter cuts and if possible how would it be done for internal pockets within cambam? |

| What I do is the roughing pass with a larger tool (set roughingAllowance) in the MOP, then finish pass at full depth or at least greater increments, possibly with a smaller tool. You can remove material for pockets more rapidly by drilling if that's feasible for your part, followed by a finish pass. RoughingAllowance works for both pockets and profiles (and a negative allowance gives you overcuts). |
