    Problems creating G-Code

    I just downloaded CamBam.

I imported a .DXF file and it appeared to import just fine.

It is a simple profiling operation and it went smooth and generated a correct tool path so I generated a G-Code file. It seemed OK until I edited the code, it showed G1Z0 for the cut depth at the programmed plunge rate when it was set for Z-.630". (profiling .625" plastic) No matter what I tried, Z was always 0 in the G Code it produced.

I looked at it some more, and I had Z-.630 for the target depth, but the "Final Depth Increment" was set to 0. I thought that might be the problem so I changed it to -.630 as it is a plastic part.

Now when I try to generate the G-Code file I get an error message that states "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I set the increment back to 0 and still get the same message.

I have no clue what the message means...or why I can't get it to show Z-.630 for the plunge depth.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

    Thanks!

    Hi.
What DepthIncrement (not FinalDepthIncrement) and StockSurface did you specify?
It always helps if you can post the .cb file as well.

The depth increment is .630 and the stock surface is 0.

    Thank you!

I was set to a "Default" post processor, so I switched to a Fanuc post processor and it generated the correct code, so I switched back to "Default" and it generated and saved the correct code to a file.

For some reason, switching post processors back and forth solved the problem...

Is there a way to generate event numbers (N1, etc) when G-Code is created?

    Thanks!

    I must be missing something...

In order to post on the CamBam forum, you need to have a username and password and be logged in.

In order to obtain a username and password you need to register and then wait for approval by the administrator.

I have registered and am awaiting approval.

I cannot log in because I have not been approved by the forum/site administrator.

Do you know a secret way to post on the forum without logging on?

I am very sorry about the delays in the CamBam forum registration.

The sad fact is, spam registrations outnumber real ones by a large margin so we reluctantly introduced a manual checking process, which can introduce a day or two delay in approving registrations.

If you have an urgent problem please feel free to use the CamBam contact page:
    http://www.cambam.co.uk/contact.html
And we will try to answer your question and/or fast track your forum registration.

I am familiar with the forum registration process and understand the delay completely.

I have no real urgent needs, and just thought I'd ask a couple of questions here while the registration is being processed.

    Thank You!!
