tool compensation??

hi,

I've loaded a simple dxf into cambam+ (beta 0.9). everyhing fine, producing gcode from a rectangle and circle drawn in cad.

However the actual cut isn't correct, I checked my machine and turbocnc settings, done some manual cuts with mdi to prove cam is working.

If I simply draw a rectangle from 0,0mm to 10,10mm in cad and in cambam add an engrave, fill in parameters, including 2mm tool diameter, finished rectangle is 8mm not 10mm, same if I do a circle of 10mm diameter, with my 2mm tool its actually producing 12mm holes (again engraving), however they do seem centred correctly which is strange?

I don't want to go through all my dxf's outlining cuts and changing diameters of circles by the tooling used. shouldn't this software do those simple calc's for you? why ask for a diameter of tool if you ain't gonna use it?

any suggestions welcome?

The engraving operation is designed to basically follow a line, so it won't offset the tool radius.

The profile operation will offset the toolpath by the cutter radius, as will the pocket operation.
