Wow, he's big! Looks like you did him out of layers of foam glued together.

Jim, that is absolutely awe inspiring work that you are doing.

Any chance of scanning and cutting a 6ft buxom blonde for me?

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

Rocket.

Sitting still?

Jim,

As for getting them to sit still. Is that when they are finished and standing or when you are carving them? If it is during carving, use 3M spray adhesive, strategically placed to hold them to the table. You can map out the location. The adhesive is a light tack used for photos and other stuff that you do not want a permanent bond on. They will break away from the adhesive when you gently pry them away from the table using a commercial spatula from your local diner. The big wide kind. You can also slide a thin cable between the foam and the table to release them.
Vacuum tables are great, but problems arose with small pieces.

If it is the finished piece standing, the bases need to be weighted. A few circles of inch and an eight ply glued together and detailed with a router bit on the edge attached to the pieces will give you a stable base and some weight to keep them from tipping. You can cut one ring and one solid piece and fill the ring with ballast to add some more weight to the piece. Attach to the base of your chess pieces and you are all set.

Ooooohhhhhh, ooooh, OOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhh! Oh Archie.

Call it a blonde moment for me. I sincerely thought you were talking about the chess pieces.

Yes we scan a blonde, redheads too! They can move somewhat because we attach a sensor to them to keep their position relative to the transmitter!

Problem is, my wife gets mad at me!
