Question Design Software other than Vectric on CAMASTERs?

Anyone know of a different design software other than Vectric A$pire?
Looking out for a more economic route to take. Free would be good too.

    Thanks

There are probably 100 other options.
What kind of stuff do you want to do?

Doing 2.5D, eventually 3D. Wood mainly. Nothing too complex yet, still a newbie.

    Thanks Gerry

Vcarve is Vectric but I say it since you didn't mention it. It's 2.5d and you can upgrade.

Please note that as a long time user and Vectric trainer I am a bit biased. That said, you will not find an easier to learn product than VCarve Pro. Nor will you find a product that has as many instructional tutorials included at no cost AND Instructors around the country that offer sit down instruction that can get you up and cutting in a couple days.

This includes CAMaster, which you have purchased a machine from. They offer classes a few times a year that cover Cut 2D and VCarve Pro along with instruction on how to get your designs from screen to machine.

Way too many people spend a LOT of money for a machine, and can't properly utilize it because they don't want to spend money on software.

It's the software that makes or breaks the machine.

Gerry's comments are spot on. From my experience in numerous cnc equipped cabinet shops I can tell you that I would rather have a $5000 machine with $25000 software than a $100000 machine with cheap software. Of course, cabinet cutting is a specific area that has specialty software designed just for that, but the same principles apply to most any area of CNC work. Like Gerry says; the software makes the machine.

Your machine came with Cut 2D. If you have been using that for your CAD/CAM and need more features, upgrade to VCPro. It will cut most anything that Aspire will, but does not have model making or modification capabilities. The vast majority of users don't build 3D models, they buy them. With version 8+ of VCPro you don't need Aspire to cut them. The upgrade is only a few hundred dollars. Spend a few hundred more on a 2-3 day training session and you will want no more.
