Dial test indicator. This is just an example.
I've got a motor which sits in an aluminium case and would like to check if the shaft is true and rotates as it should wouldn't any wobble. Unfortunatelly the majority of the shaft sits in a recess and it's not possible to access it from the sides as there's only around 40mm of space between the shaft and the recess wall. Does anyone know what I can use to do such a check, or perhaps how such a tool is called??
yeah, definitely go with a dial test indicator, and as with any new tool (assuming you don't already have one) don't get the cheap-o. Make sure it's calibrated, too. And be gentle with those buggers!
