    renishaw ballbar

does anyone here, use a ballbar check on a regular basis.
If there is, do you check only in one plane, or all three.

    Hi Dougtyler
Are you talking about a vertical milling machine ? if so X and Y is what I check and then a normal dti backlash check on Z unless it's being used for three axis interpolation then I do all three .
    Hope this helps ,
PS Got any good tips about keeping the cable from snagging on enclosed machines?

The only tip I can think of, is that when you attach the ball bar, have the cable wraped up one revolution. When the program runs, it will unwrap the one revolution plus wrap one revolution in the opposite direction. This means that the cable will only be wraped up one revolution, through the whole process. Hope this helps.
