| Last month I sent my long tip B&S BestTest dial indicator out for repairs, it arrive today and is working excellent! The crystal was dull and scuffed, the tip was worn, the movement was sticking, and the indicator now has a new crystal and long tip! I sent it to Arizona for repairs! Very pleased with results and price! $44.95 Phoenix Small Tool Repair 1819 south 7th Street Phoenix, AZ 85034 Phone# 602-256-7011 Fax# 602-340-9052 Calibration Laboratory |

Eric, When you change a short tip to a long tip does that not change the accuracy too? Unless you are calculating the error or it was rejeweled and calibrated for a longer tip.

| tobyaxis, My indicator is a true "Long Tip" model, they just repaired and re-calibrated it with the exact length tip it was designed for! You are correct too, as these indicators loose accuracy if the tip is not propper. However, my usage is rarely in a QC environment! I use my indicators for tramming the head on my mill, locating center of parts, leveling parts truing parts in a lathe, etc. In these cases the "Zero" is all I need! The error of an impropper tip would only show up when using the indicator with a height gage while on a surface plate to transfer or compair measurement from a "Cadalic Gage" (which I do not own)!
