I've used self levelling cement for flooring. The results would not have been good enough for measurement or calibration. Not nearly. Not at all.
Hi there,
New to this forum seems like a GREAT resource.
I am trying to find a cheap alternative to a flat granite surface.
I was wondering, how flat is flat, when it comes to the self leveling cements found at Home Depot or Lowes that are used for tile flooring?
Either that of the self leveling epoxies?
Has anyone used these types of products for measurement or calibration?

Welcome nadsab,
Granite surface plates are so inexpensive. Enco and Grizzly are always having sales on these items and sometimes with free shipping.
Also check craigslist.org where you live.....
