Default Looking for Edge Finder with 1/4" Shank

Almost all of the edge finders I've seen have either a 1/2" or 3/8" shank. I use a Bosch Colt Router so the maximum shank is 1/4". Does anyone know of any edge finders with a 1/4" shank?

Fisher Machine makes a 1/4" shank edge finder, just look on eBay.

MICRO EDGE FINDER BY FISHER 1/4 or 3/8 or 1/2 SHANK | eBay

But the max speed they recommend is 1500 rpm, will your router go that slow?

Thanks for looking but I saw that one and no I can't go that slow. So the hunt continues...

You don't need to turn the router on when you're finding edges. Just feel the edge where it is offset; you can actually feel smaller differences than you can see.

Andrew, have you ever done a test to verify how accurate that is? Compare it to a reading with a spinning spindle using a mill

I'm wondering whether it wouldn't work to spin the router by hand, or rig up a way to spin it with a dremel or something. I have the same need...

Good point about not having the router turned on. Might be worth a shot to try it. It just seems a bit odd to me that there really aren't any 1/4" shank solutions.

Yes, I'm using Mach3 but when I inquired about this in another thread people said to use an edge finder. I actually have a couple of probes but never go around to "programming" Mach 3 for the touch routine.

Well a probe is the only way to go I have built a complete set of routines. All that you will ever need and I can help you through any issues.
    that you might have
Look for Squirrel Probes in this site I just posted a new download link yesterday these work with Mach3 using a standard screen set .

Just another note I never use a probe in the spindle chuck I always use it offset this eliminates any discrepancy in the probe ball and does not require the probe to spin true .

I went to that thread to check out your routine but it says that the download link is broken.
