    Engraving question

I have a question regarding engraving using version 4.0. If I use a true-type font and want to engrave it with lets say a 1/32 ball cutter it can't seem to find a real fast way to create the tool paths. If I take the text and "burst" them when I go to the tool paths I need to pick all the segments of the text and them I still don't get very good tools paths. Not sure if I should use profile, pocket or is there something I'm missing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So I guess your talking about KeyCreator with the NC option. Sorry can't help. We use Surfcam with KeyCreator. Do you have a legitimate copy? If you do, have you tried calling a dealer or posting on KeyCreator's Webforum? There a very few users of the NC software out there from what I hear. You may find one at cadchat.com or eng-tip.com, but both of those sites have seen little Cadkey related activity this year. The problem you're having is program specific, so find another user or dealer is your only option I'm afraid. Even in Surfcam, engraving text can be a little tricky if you're not aware of a few changes that need to be made to the peramiters.

When Creating the text check the box "Create as Geometry". Then use 2d profile with the "chain" select option

Just tried it. Not the most elegant solution. Better is to do as above, then extrude to give thickness then 3d machine and pick faces of the "TEXT SOLIDS"
