Try this,
goto, "Tools, display", change cursor size to 14, 14
This gives me full screen crosshairs on Cadkey R19 win XP, Win2k, etc
I installed my Cadkey 98 in a laptop with Vista. Program appears to be running perfectly except that the cursor disappears in the drawing window. It is visible, as normal. over all the menus - everywhere except inside the drawing window.
Any ideas on a fix?
Mike

Been doing this too long
Try running Cadkey with the Vista Aero theme disabled. The Aero display theme plays havoc with older Open GL apps. It was the only way I could run KeyCreator in Vista before dumping Vista altogether.
To disable the aero theme:

Thanks for the quick replies. Changing the cursor size is something I hadn't known I could do. That should work too, although I already found a cure for my problem later last night.
The whole story...
I had just installed my Cadkey 98 in a laptop I just acquired. It has a widescreen display and the first problem I had was distortion in the X axis - circles and squares were oblong on the display, although they measured and printed accurately, indicating that it was totally a display problem.
I found the answer to that in a previous thread here, called "Cadkey 99 in Windows Vista". the solution there was to change my display size in Cadkey to the same numbers as my laptop setting - 1280 x 800. That fixed the display problem, but my cursor went away in the drawing area.
The thought (eventually) occured to me that it may still be there but in a size so small I couldn't see it at the 1280 x 800 setting. So I started reducing those numbers, always keeping the same aspect ratio, until the cursor came back.
My display size as set in Cadkey is now 20 x 12.5 (that's 1280 x 800 divided by 64), and everything is right with the world - accurate display and a good cursor.
Thanks again for the help on this great forum.

One more thing, in case someone else eventually tries using this thread to fix their similar problem...
Every time I changed the display setting within Cadkey 98 it did not show immediately on the screen. I had to exit Cadkey and restart it each time I made a change, to see what affect the change had.
Strange, but workable.

I'm trying to run Cadkey 99 on a new core quad 2 pc running windows 7. I tried using the information from the previous posts and it was helpful in terms of making circles round and not eliptical. However, the mouse cross hairs disappear in the uper 1/3 of the drawing area. The mouse works fine everywhere except in the previouslly mentioned area. I'm what my friends call a retired PreGeezer. I own an old Botomatic 4-Axis Mill and most of the software is late late 1980's / early 90's. I continue to use an older pc for that software but would like to use Cadkey 99 to design on the newer and larger montiored pc. Any help with this dissapering cursor issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dan

One more observation about the previous post. All drawn entities as well as the grid are not visable like the the mouse cursor in the upper 1/3 of the drawing area. Thanks, Dan
To all who helped, Thanks to everyone with their suggestions. I restored my Sony Viao (8g ram, 1g nivda, 2Xquad core, Win 7 pro) to factory condition and reloaded all my software, I did this to 3 of these PCs. I loaded Cadkey 99 on the first PC and every thing worked flawless except the oval circles that were corrected by changing the screen size values to X=30. & Y=16.875, Under tools>options>display. And Right clicking on the Cadkey shortcut>properties>compatibility> Check Run compatabilty to WindowsXP SP3 and check Disable display scaling. Presto, everthing worked fine, no need to run it in the Virtul Xp mode. Tried on the 2nd Viao and lost 1/3 of the drawing area again, the cursor would disapear and the entities I drew would not be visable in that area after auto scaling. The only reason I found the problem was because I had 2 identical PCs side by side. It turns out that 1 of the Sony Viaos had a pulldown menu called "Sony Viao Gate" that was enalbled. I disabled the Viao Gate and low and behold it fixed the problem. Hope this is helpful to anyone else that encounters this problem. PS If your thinking about running MS Virtul XP be warned that it will not acess your Video card and creates virtual memory on your hard drive that peaks out at 512mb. It appears that the Virtual XP was made for basic word processing/ spread sheets/ etc, not graphic intensive programs. It will work but is very slow. Thanks again to all with your help and suggestions. Dan
