    Ageless Engines 9Cyl Radial to Solidworks

    I have just bought a set of plans for their 9 cylinder radial engine. To get a real feel for the engine and also to ease manufacture I am about to start converting the design to Solidworks.

    Before I reinvent the wheel, I wondered whether anyone else has done this on this group.

    Thanks

    Bruce M

    I have modeled the engine in Alibre. It is a very nice project. Good luck with your build. I plan to build the engine starting winter 2011.

    Hi Bruce, I have the plans and metal to make it too, and thought the same thing (I'm only about 45min from Lee). I did start doing the design in Solidworks (I think I did it in a demo version of Inventor too). I'm just using the plans as a baseline to kinda do my own thing (at least for the heads and pistons). I got the block mostly done, but that's it. I found another guy on the net somewhere that did the whole thing - his model structure wasn't quite professional, but he did have it all modeled. I can't seem to find his contact info tho. If you like to design, it doesn't take that long to just do the whole thing, though I'd like to share too just to see how other people model the parts.

    18 cyl engine

    Hi Bruce;
    I too just purchased a set of plans for the 18 cylinder engine from Lee Hodgson at Ageless Engines, LLC. I am looking for any parts that are CNC coded for the 9 cyl or the 18 cyl. Since both are the same in a lot of parts like heads, cylinders, oil pump etc. I am running Bobcad ver 24 but can import just about anything into this software. I know who!!! Bobcad what??? We have a simple shop, that mostly makes one off parts for hot rods and Corvettes. My main stay is in the electrical industry for speciality items. But hobbies just hone our skills. If you can help that would be great...jim

    is it a public work, or just yours? - 18 Cyl isn't that much different. All the cylinders & heads and what not are the same. Do you have the blueprints from Lee? - Anybody building it should have the plans..... I have the 9cyl, but not the 18....
