    rod and main bearings

    does anyone know of a supplier that makes split sleeve roller bearings in sizes like 3/8 and 1/2 inch id.
    #2-- what do most people use to make split sleeve bearings out of.
    any other comments along these lines would be appreciated.

    they offer recirculating ball type and also nylon ones, mounted pillow or bushing. depending on your application the nylon ones are very affordable, only somewhat less so are the ball type in the size you mention.

    i've made my own... but i would advise against going there unless you feeling like playing around.

    I believe Thompson bearing or Nippon bearing may have what you want.
    Motion industries is where i would call first.

    I know where your heading and I have the same concerns too.
    We all might be able to build a motor that fires, but one that lasts for 100's of hours is a different story altogether.
