I recently attended the North American Model Enginnering Society exhibition held annually in Detroit, Michigan.
I have posted some photos at http://www.pbase.com/canewb/scalemodels
and some videos on youtube, search on cnewber1 to see them.
Hope you will find them interesting.

Red to red and black to black, or it's ashes to ashes and dust to dust.
dynosor,
Didn't get exact details on many of the models that I took pictures of.
However, some of these guys have real jobs in foundries or factories around the Detroit area and have the expertise, and access, to a facility than can produce this type of casting.
Many of them, also have aluminum casting abilities in their backyards.
Facinating hobby, lots of talented people.
