    Doable?

Hi guys, do you think this project is a possible DIY? What sort of CNC machine would I be looking at to get something like this done or would it perhaps be better to get it custom one off made somewhere based on plans? Assuming I can get plans for it.

    Doable? I would think so.

CNC? Maybe not. There is a 9 cylinder set of plans sold by the Hodgeson family that requires no CNC at all. I would think with enough creativity and time you might be able to pull it off.

One off custom by somebody else? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If you are talking about a full size replica engine, then you machine tools would have to have slide travel and capacity large enough to make each of the parts.

If you are talking about a model engine, you can scale the engine to fit your available mill/lathe. These can be manual or CNC.

To whet you appetite, you can see your fellow countrymen making full size radial engines here: http://www.rotecradialengines.com/photo.htm
Red to red and black to black, or it's ashes to ashes and dust to dust.
