    Wireing (460 to220 volts)

Just bought a 1995 lathe, The tag on the back says 208 3phase, when I got it home and opened the cabinet it says 460 volt 3phase. Nobody can seem to tell me which way it was wired when it was taken out of service. I need to have it set up for 220volts. I have no manuals for this thing either, they said they where in the cabinet but my luck there not there, any help would be appriciated. Thank you.

Is this CNC or a manual lathe? if manual it is just the motor probabally that you have to worry about, in that case look on the name place of the motor for the 220/460?
If CNC there most likely is a transformer in the enclosure that may indicate what it is hooked up as.
Also the main fuses should be an indication as they would be half the value on 460v.

You can usually go by size comparison as the the primary one being larger.
But as a rule the primary one is either in the enclosure or on the outside of the machine feeding the enclosure disconnect.
