BMDC error, desktop? = $1100 ezpath bill

Two nights ago I got the bmdc error when booting the machine. It was a "error while reading c:drive".
I figured I would make a backup copy of the ezpath at work and write over the corrupted file on my machine.
It loaded but gives me a "Key not found or wrong key" when it boots up.
I call EMI and they tell me that the software is $140, but it doesn't work well with the old boards so I need to spent $1100 on an upgrade.
Anyone been down this road?

Sorry, no help with the errors.

I have two machines that I upgraded with the EMI replacement motherboards and DOM's (Disk on modules) and their software. They work well and seem a bit faster than the 486 boards and hard drive. I have another machine with the 486 motherboard and original software that will probably get the same upgrade some day. Something I learned back when personal computers started under CP/M and DOS; make a copy of original software before installing it for the first time. Some software once installed is then keyed to that machine. With a copy of the original software if a drive and motherboard has to be replaced the software can be reinstalled without problems.
If you can find a Dosasaur they might get you up and running with the copy you made.
