No low spindle speed

Help, I have a 1994 16 x 40 Bridgeport Romi EZ Path lathe. I ust got it wired up and cannot get it in the low speed, also the jog button doesn't work.
Any thought on where to trouble shoot this problem?

Do you have a HI/LOW gear handle

if you do... it could be a prox switch not making. there are 2 switches, under the guarding, on the outside of the head that the gear changer uses to tell the system if it is in low or high gear.

you'll need to pull the guarding off the head of the lathe to check these switches. bit of a job but not too bad. (25 or 30 button heads)
on mine, the prox switches are mounted to small angle brackets that had the mounting bolts come loose. i used locktite on the bolts to prevent it from happening again

i'm not sure about the jog button - i'm sure someone else will know
