Ez-Path parameters

What keyword is used to access the parameters on my 1994 Bridgeport Romi lathe.

None. I never had to use a password. If I ever reloaded the software, it asked me if it was a PATH 1 or 2 and loaded it. But read on.
Therefore if you go to DOS and from the C drive root directory type in PFM.exe followed by ENTER, you should get to a screen where you can view and edit parameters. the only parameter I needed to edit was on the EZPATH2 for spindle gain, parameter 71 (I think). This is adjusted to get the speed asked for and actual to be close.

Password

Try 51443 or 11235. That will work to edit parameters on the eztrak also.

Correct. I talked to EMI and they clued me in. 11235 is for the ez-track. 51443 is for the ez-path. On the ez-path you need to go through the utilities command (key #9 at main screen) and hit "*" to get to the password entry screen. It worked. There's some 70 plus parameters, many associated with extra axis that I don't have.

The next problem is that there are no definitions for the various parameters or what the values entered for each represent.

Apparently, only Bridgeport technicians have this information. However, I can't believe that in this day and age that none of this information has made its way to the internet.

If EMI does not have them you may be out of luck. Next time I am in the shop I will go through my old EZpath manuals etc and see if I can come across any of the parameter explanations. What is it exactly your trying to do that requires a parameter change??

Rebuilt ballscrews and bearings, need to adjust pitch error and backlash comp.

Also, I'd like to adjust the servo drivers. I don't have a procedure for the three pots that I have on each board. I read the procedure on driver adjustment for an ez-track (manuals at work, Boeing), but we don't have any ez-paths in our machine shop. Process might be the same, however.

Pitch and lead comp

On the Paths those parameters are adjusted through the the PFM program. On the Traks you can access it through the utilities page. Plug in your keyboard and go to DOS and run PFM. You should have 3 or 4 options depending on your version for tuning, leadcomp etc they ask for an expected move value and an actual then figures your error. Play around with it and you will figure it out. As far as the drive tuning if they are the original drives (open boards on a white plate) I have been unable to find that procedure also and EMI told me the original manufacturer of those drives kept it to themselves I guess. The new style drives are enclosed black or brown boxes and I may have that procedure somewhere, I'd have to look.

BTW the drive on the path and the Trak are basically the same so your tuning procedure may apply to the path also. Just look at the drives and if they are the same go for it.

I'll make a copy of the drive control procedure outlined in the ez-track manual at work and post it next week. Mark
