I bought this mill a few months ago but haven't had it delivered yet so I only have info from pictures. I'm planning on learning to mill using this machine and then converting it to CNC. What should I plan on doing to it once I get it? |

| WAY OIL, not grease. A standard grease gun (14 Oz) or a mini (8 Oz) can pretty easily be converted for injecting oil, but a one-shot lube pump is better. If you only have the Zerk fittings on the right end of the saddle, you may want to drill and install a second set on the left end, to feed the oil groove from both ends. The early machines (I have a 1938) only had the oil ports on the right edge, and the left side of the saddle doesn't get enough. Your machine is probably from about 1958, that's when they had the 1J head but before they converted from round-ram to Vee-ram. Jon |
