Hi All, Does anyone have a cable schematic to connect a Bp w/Heidenhain TNC145 to a computer and the flow control settings. I've got info from Heidenhain, Tncremont, DNC, i-logic, and generic software and the cables are all different. My control has the 25 pin connector that went to a remote tape drive and floppy. My serial port is set up COM1 2400 baud 7 bit even parity 2 stop bits w/handshake and FIFO is turned off. My last attempt was with a cable wired from PC to CNC: 2-2; 3-3; 4-6 (with pc pin1 jumped to 4); 5-7; 6-20 (with cnc pin 20 jumped to 8); 7-5; 8-4 I checked ac voltages and I am getting signal from machine and pc on correct pins. I did get 2 errors last night on the control but they are hard to read on my screen. I think they said wrong signal and in/out not ready. Any ideas? Thanks, HMC710 Last edited by hmc710; 01-19-2010 at 05:47 AM. Reason: add info |

| Yes, your right 5-7 on the 9 to 25 pin configuration I forgot that. That's ground. Check under the MOD key that you have the right Baud Rate, Heidenhain likes 2400, and look at the one setting it should be RS232 not FE. You can use the Utility program from Heidenhain's website. It works. I've used it before Just download it from there. Good luck Rich www.archcity.net |

Still have not found out where I am going wrong yet. I'll check my machine parameters today. Have the post processor on Bobcad V21, but still can't receive from the mill. I've got a 600+ line program on there and I sure don't want to have to punch it in by hand again.... |

Thanks for the reply Gus, I appreciate it! I was in my machine parameter this weekend and MP76 is Program End Character and it is set at 3 which my manual says is ETX. I am also using different parameters than you have listed; full handshake & 2 stop bits. The one picture that is in the manual has a 25 - 25 pin cable configuration with the old style 2-3 & 7-7 cable config, but it also has no handshake which I will give a try. I'm not exactly sure how to make sure my ascii set up is right. The manuals say CR LF ETX and then shows the coorisponding values, 13, 10, 3. Do I just start my program with 13, 10 (CR, LF)? Thanks for all your help out there! |

Woo Hoo! Just received data from TNC145 to Bobcad V21. 992 lines of code! Thanks to everyone who helped out with this. Now that I have my program saved its time to start playing. Thanks again for all the help, I really appreciate it. |
